Invisible piano, 2003

Invisible piano first manifested as a performance, and then secondly,
as a vinyl record. The work involved playing a number of piano
compositions I wrote while studying at NSCAD. The piece is to be
performed in a concert hall. During the first half of the show, the
concert hall’s lights illuminate the performance space; during the
second half all lights are turned off. I attempt to navigate through
the compositions in the dark and in turn make errors. The piece
was later cut as a dubplate record, a sort of vinyl that degrades
very quickly and imitates the performance falling apart.
